A glass tube with a filament inside and metal contacts on the ends. The speed controllers contain a fuse that will cut off electricity to the motor if the allowed amperage is exceeded. This protects both the motor and the controller by preventing electrical fires or other damage. If a fuse is "blown," fuses are easy to replace with spare fuses that are included with rentals.
